Get used to that greeting, I will use it often. I can’t help it, at the end of the day I will always be a southern girl!
I am so excited for this next season of life as we embark on a new journey together! For the past couple of years I have wanted to start a blog for the purpose of encouraging women, but I didn’t have the courage or confidence to do so until now.
My husband, Abdiel, and I recently moved to Fresno, California from Oklahoma City ( no, we didn’t follow Durant; yes, we are BIG OKC Thunder fans). At the beginning of this journey I had the opportunity to connect with some amazing pastor’s wives in our church. I was invited to attend a brunch with these amazing women, and the experience was so sweet and encouraging.
During this time, we sat around a big open table, enjoying some delicious food. Toward the end of our gathering, the host began to pray over each one of us, and as I was getting prayed for I felt a strong stirring in my heart, as if God was calling me to step into something new. I left feeling excited, yet nervous for where God was taking me in this next season.
On my way home I began to ask God what it was that He was calling me to and the thought of writing a blog was once again placed in mind. The feelings of curiosity, cautiousness, and nervousness ran through the pit of my stomach, but I could not shake what God was speaking to me in that moment. I realized in this moment that if God calls you to something, no matter what it looks like or how incapable you believe you are, beneath the surface is always a greater purpose that we don’t always see.
So here I am, at the beginning stages of this beautiful journey God has me on, trying new things and stepping out of my comfort zone. I’m excited to share some thoughts and ideas that God puts on my heart in so many places and areas of my life. I chose the name Simply Rooted, because I wanted to do just that. I wanted to help women become more rooted in a simple way; growing closer with God does not have to be complicated. God loves spending time with us, especially the ordinary moments of life. He loves it when we take time to hear Him speak life over us. I want readers to understand the simple yet truthful things that God says about us.
I hope that you continue on this crazy journey with me, and I hope that I can bring you encouragement in the times when you need it the most. I believe that God will speak to you in these moments, as he speaks to me. I pray we will grow deep roots together, and that God will take you farther than you ever imagined.
